Contact the Elderly Through Your Stationery

Lionheart Stationers are very happy to be teaming up with the charity Contact the Elderly in London to help raise awareness and much needed funds. Lionheart Stationers will be giving 15% of all their hand illustrated Christmas stationery sales to Contact the Elderly and hope their customers and social partners will reflect upon the importance of these actions in the current climate. The total amount raised will be announced and given to the charity on the 23rd December 2012.
Contact the Elderly is the only national charity solely dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people. They organise monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people (aged 75+) who live alone, and volunteers within their local community, offering a regular and vital friendship link every month.
The charity’s tea parties are a real lifeline of friendship for our older guests who have little or no contact with any family or friends. They bring people of all ages together, develop fulfilling friendships and support networks, and give everyone involved something to look forward to each month.
With Christmas rearing its head around the corner, there is no better moment to get involved and help challenge the sadness of a Christmas alone. In a season to be jolly, full of warmth thoughts and togetherness, with twinkling lights everywhere, some of the elderly people out there are just counting minutes, with nothing to look forward to, feeling excluded from society itself. A not belonging drama which could have its story line changed quite easily with a bit of small talk, company, a place to go to and return from. A sense of community.
Lionheart Stationers Team commented ‘Helping isn’t just about giving cash. It’s all those little gestures like a whole heartedly greeting, that can make a difference. But since most of the people will buy Christmas cards and seasons’ invitations and thank you notes, why not offer them the possibility to help this wonderful charity Contact the Elderly, through their acquisitions. We’d really like our public to help us bring the real meaning of winter holidays. Nobody wants to be alone on Christmas or any other time. We should know it, we have a 96 y.o in our family. ’
Launched in 2011, Lionheart Stationers is a small family run business, creating hand illustrated stationery for all ages and occasions. The Christmas range includes personalised invitations, thank you notes and greeting cards. With a few key strokes on their website, personalise all your stationery, in the knowledge that 15% of what you pay goes towards Contact the Elderly and that you are supporting British local production and craftsmanship.
Keith Arscott, Chief Executive of Contact the Elderly, said: “We are delighted to be working with Lionheart Stationers. The amount raised will be used to help deliver our vital lifeline of Friendship to lonely, isolated older people in local communities across England, Scotland and Wales.”
