REVIEW: The Crafter's Guide to Taking Great Photos by Heidi Adnum

To be honest I'm surprised this book hasn't come out sooner - as the number of people who are selling online gets larger so the need for your items to look top notch is increasingly more important and I can see this little gem being in everyone's bookshelf soon.

Heidi Adnum is both crafter and professional photographer so is perfectly placed to advice on how to take great shots for your lovingly made products. The book goes through all aspects of product photography, from how to understand and use your camera correctly, how to deal with lighting and thinking about composition and placement.

Clearly laid out and visually inspiring, the book is very simple to follow but also very thorough, even I learned a few tips! And as well as showing you how to do things as a pro photographer would it also gives tips how to produce similar results on the cheap as lets face it, not everyone has the cash to invest in studio lighting and big lenses.

Best of all the book features loads of examples and advice from other designers and answers most of the common questions people ask when struggling to get a perfect shot. Even if you know your way around a camera this book is gorgeous to look at and inspirational on many levels. It says on the back cover 'The Crafter's Guide to Taking Great Photos is the ultimate reference for all crafters and bloggers.' I couldn't agree more.
