Please tell us about yourselves and how you got started?
David and I have actually known each other since we were very small, we met at a school aged 5. Our lives continued, David traveled the globe before finally going to Central Saint Martins to study Graphic Design.I went to Edinburgh University then onto the Royal College of Art in 2005. On David's 23rd Birthday we shared a kiss, the rest is history, and we have been happily together ever since. We both worked for design companies for a few years before deciding to go for it and set up our own small design studio. We moved to rural Worcestershire rented a cow shed as our studio and got designing.

What is the story and ethos behind your work?
We aim to bring fine design and British Personality back in to peoples homes

Do you have any formal training/experience which applies to what you do?
David Studied Graphic Design at Saint Martins before working at a London based Ad agency The Brooklyn Brothers. I studied fashion at Edinburgh then at the Royal Collage before working as a womenswear designer for Anthropologie in the USA.
What inspired you to set up your business and what did you find most helpful in doing this?
We both love screen printing and thinking of design concepts for the home. After years of talking through ideas we inspired each other to start up the business and go for it! It was so helpful having a partner by your side to encourage and reassure each other along the way.

Your work has a Victoriana-inspired feel, what subject matters are you naturally drawn to and do you reference in your work?
David and I are a bit obsessed with the traditional process of letter press printing, from the hand carved wooden type faces to the smell of the thick glossy inks. The pages of Victorian periodicals and clothing catalogues are an endless source of inspiration along with a touch of the modern and unexpected.

What do you love most about designing, illustrating and printing and what do you find the most frustrating?
There is nothing better than a screen print that is looking great after days of hard work in the print studio. However there is nothing worse than when it all starts to go wrong! It doesn’t happen often but when it does it is so frustrating.

We love your "She Rides Above It" limited edition screen-print; what are your favourite designs and why?
I love the letter press prints as they use such beautiful type faces that are over a 100 years old.

Can you tell us a bit about where you both create your designs and screen-prints (your creative space), can we take a sneaky peek at your workshop/studio/office?
We have a studio in a converted cow shed in Worcestershire were we illustrated and design all our work. I am a member of the Birmingham Print Makers, this is were I do all the screen printing. It is a great place to print surrounded by many inspiring and talented printers.

Who or what inspires you most in your work?
We are both inspired by the golden age of Great Britain, from black and white films to good old fashioned manners not to mention the odd love poem or two. Being nostalgic and having a love for all things hand crafted to is hard not to look into the past for inspiration.
What are your plans for the next 12 months and where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?
In 2012 we plan to keep designing and produce prints and home wear products for the people of Britain and beyond. In five years time we hope to have grown the business perhaps even outgrowing the cow shed but still making sure all our products are hand made in Britain.

Is handmade a lifestyle choice for you and if so why?
David and I both feel that hand made is important as so many tradition crafts and processes are being lost to mass production.
Running your own business is extremely hard work, how do you balance your work and home life and what do you do to wind down?
It is quite hard to balance home work life as David and I are together at 24/7. We love to have friends over to stay, go for walks and have a drink in the pub by the fire. I am also a member of the WI!

How do you get the word out about your work and where can we buy your work?
We have a website www.chaseandwonder.com with a shop were you can buy our wares and a blog to keep you all updated on what we are up to and designs we have in the pipe line.
